Somebody is Selfish
Here's some excerpts of the song Somebody by Depeche Mode:
(Pardon for the rushed comments, I should be working and studying; however I felt a blogging urge to shoot down this selfishly written song of exalting one's needs.)
I want somebody to share
Share the rest of my life
Share my innermost thoughts
Know my intimate details
Someone who'll stand by my side
And give me support
And in return
She'll get my support
She will listen to me
When I want to speak
About the world we live in
And life in general
First part, QA-passed and approved. Let's get into the next part:
Though my views may be wrong
They may even be perverted
She'll hear me out
And won't easily be converted
To my way of thinking
In fact she'll often disagree
But at the end of it all
She will understand me
Compromise is not an option. Sooner or later, such differences will put a strain on the relationship. It musn't be ignored or put off for the future. The sooner issues are dealt with, the better. That way, you won't waste each other's time.
I want somebody who cares
For me passionately
With every thought and
With every breath
Someone who'll help me see things
In a different light
All the things I detest
I will almost like
Duh. Go buy a dog. Come here puppy! Fetch! Lick my feet!
I don't want to be tied
To anyone's strings
I'm carefully trying to steer clear of
Those things
One has no right to demand somebody who'll help me see things in a different light, somebody who'll hold you till the morning light, somebody who'll know my innermost thoughts, my intimate details if one isn't willing to commit for a long time, perhaps up until marriage. It's unfair for the person to lead him/her on the edge of the mountain, thinking you'll jump together, but when you get into the jumping point, you realize, uh-oh, I'm not ready for the leap..sorry, but thanks for the ride.
Too often people look for what they want to get out of relationships. What can the person do for me? What can the person make me feel? It's all about me, me, me. And that's the sad thing.
Immaturity breeds within...Forever floundering about in relationships, but not wanting to be "tied down". It's not about being tied down, but wanting to and willingly committing yourself to a person. Some got it all wrong - tied down, my ass! Bah!
